The History of the Universe and our Planet in 86 pages!

I’m blessed at COSI to be working with an incredibly talented team with a breadth of backgrounds. COSI team members have experience and credentials that range from Ph.Ds in science and education to high level corporate and government experience to engineering to acting. This range and depth is what enables us to do many of the cool things that engage you at COSI, and our team members also do so independently.

I think one of the neatest recent team member accomplishments was the publishing of a book written by COSI’s Steve Whitt entitled The Turtle and the Universe illustrated by Stephanie Hernandez (another COSI team member).

This was an intriguing personal project the two of them took on outside of their COSI work (or is that play? 😉 )

I don’t know how Steve did it, but in 86 quickly read pages designed for the upper elementary/middle school reader, he’s engagingly woven together the whole history of the earth, our ecosystems, and our connectedness. And oh yeah, nestled this within is the universe’s history! Steve accomplished this feat through the tale of a sea turtle, making it compelling and fascinating reading. Wish I had this book available when I was teaching science!

Next time you are looking for a good read, check it out. I understand the book is carried by our Science2Go shop at COSI and is available through Amazon.com
